Today is Lily's Gotcha Day!!!
One year ago today, Lily's adoption was final!!! We will never ever forget how excited we were to finally have the little girl we had been dreaming about since she was 4 months old and came into our lives. 11 months of worry and sleepless nights finally came to an end!! Our adoption worker called to let us know that the judge had signed our adoption petition!! You can only imagine how I cried!!! Of course I immediately called Rob at work and he couldn't even hardly believe it, he said he'd believe it when we had the actual adoption paperwork in his hands. I called Mom and she bawled like a baby, I called Dad and I think he was crying too!!! Then I called my Sister and I'm pretty sure she was crying!!! Then of course I proceeded to call ALL of my friends, and if I could have stood on my roof and had a fireworks display, I would have!!
Lily came into our lives and immediately won over my heart, and Rob's sooner than he will admit!! She just fit perfectly into our lives! She is so easy going, go with the flow outgoing little thing! I truly believe that everything happens for a reason!! I now know the reason I was given grim news at 27 years old, I didn't understand then why I was told I had Cancer and needed to have an immediate hysterectomy. I do know, God must have know that this little girl not yet even thought of would need Rob and I, and I am so great full! I would go through it all again, a million times over if I knew that this Princess would be ours!!! EXACTLY 6 years to the DAY of my hysterectomy, our adoption of Lily was final, you can't tell me that was a coincedence!!!!
We are heading to Build A Bear tomorrow night to start our Gotcha Day tradition!
Did you guess right about what today's post would be??
Look how much my baby has grown since 1 year ago. I can hardly believe it!!

I am so very happy for you guys. What a blessing!! It is a very special day indeed :)
WOW - what a special day indeed. I'm so glad that for you - this dream was realized!! And I too believe everything happens for a reason - the dates being the same was no coincidence. I think that was just a hint that 'hey, this is why'. WOW!! I know that there's a great reason why Cole was diagnosed with cancer and I don't have the answer yet - but I know it was in God's plan all along. Sounds like His plan for you guys has worked out perfectly!!
huge congrats!! What a truly touching story. God does work in amazing ways!

Lori, I love your story and you are so right....we often don't know why God allows things to come into our life, but we can have full confidence that He knows and that it all is designed perfectly to work together for good. Congratulations on your one-year celebration of Lily and your family...thanks for sharing your joy!

Nicole
